YOU GOV PROFILES

How to create titles in motion.

When you open up motion you will be welcomed with these options. We started with a template as it gives us something to start of with.

Then there will be a range of templates from you to choose from. You can also press them for a preview.

Finally once you've chosen your template you would be able to change the text to what you want.

Blogging health check 3:

Hi Harjeet It's good to see you are keeping a production diary and interesting to read your reflections. I would say what you need to do is to try and come up with solutions. Part of what we are trying to do with encouraging you to blog so much, is to encourage you to plan properly. What exactly do you want to achieve in your next filming session? What do you need to do to make sure this happens? Try and be really clear about this and put it down in a blog entry. Your blog entries are currently a little on the brief side - try and add some photos of some video or use other types of ICT (Prezis, emaze etc) to liven them up a bit. Also, after each session, you could write a short individual note on exactly what you did. Also, you could post re. skills development - what exactly have you learnt so far? How have your skills dveloped? You can write all this up on the blog. Try and get your post count up also - I'd like you to be in the mid-30s in terms of post count, at a minimum by now. Dan

Blogging health check 2

Hi Glad to see you are all out filming. Can you make sure that you blog a Production Diary (group entry). Include some photos or stills from the shoot, give an account of where you went, what you did and what footage you shot. You should also review your footage before the next lesson and say what was good, what didn’t work, and explain how this affects your future plans – update your production schedule in light of this. The blog should now function as an ongoing record of your work. Dan

Feedback from First Rough Cut

The feedback we got from dan on our first rough cut was that, it was a good attempt for the first rough cut,  however he said that we had a lot to improve on, he told us that there were a lot of shots that really didn't need to be there and that we should get rid off in order to make the title sequence look more realistic. He said in our second rough cut we should include more close ups in order to show emotion in each other's faces so it could have a greater effect on our title sequence and the audience. He also mentioned adding some foley sounds and a prominent soundtrack to emphasise emotion in our title sequence.

He also told us that the title credits were not clear enough, and to make things a bit easier we should use motion instead of doing them on Final Cut Pro (our initial idea). Some of e titles covered some actors faces so we were told to adjust the frame on Final Cut Pro.

- To improve my work i will redo the title credits and make sure that they are organised and are placed on the frame so that no crucial bits are missing.
- film more close ups to emphasise emotion
- remove any irrelevant shots that may have been seen.

The story focuses mainly on the characters Trevor, known as "Trife" and Alisa, his on and off partner. One of the themes of the movie is Alisa's pregnancy. She states that Trife is the father. Trife is not rally happy to hear that he has a child at his age. Trife unfortunately has a dramatic death in the end as he is hit with a bat hard to the stomach by Sam. Blog post-12

The similarities with High school&Youth drama film are:

  • Both of them end with the title of who the film was written and/or directed by.
  • Also both the title sequences start with a blank screen with some text on it then move to moving images.

The differences with High school&Youth drama film are:

  • In a High school drama the title sequence is in most cases longer than others, this is usually because High school drama's in most cases it has more casts and more people producing it.
  • Linking back to the bullet point above High school dramas are mainly mainstream production and Youth drama's are usually independent films. Ive noticed High school dramas have a more entertaining side whereas youth dramas are more serious and most likely to be based on real live events.

Final Project In The Making (Editing)

At this point of editing as a group we have imported our clips of our short film onto 'Final Cut Pro' and we are just reviewing the what we have filmed and deciding how to present it as best as possible with effective shot angles; special effects to create an intend atmosphere to go with the genre and the story line and also transitions that ail go well and fit in with the mood that is being created to intrigue the audience watching.

Wake up call...

Todays lesson was a wake up call for me as I was told we had to complete our title sequence by next Friday. This was quite worrying at first but as the lesson progressed I could see our title sequence coming together. Our media teacher gave us feedback on how we've done so far which is on a separate blog, but in a nutshell the comment were generally good but there was space for improvement. We're taking all the comments on board and try make all the changes.

GarageBand sounds-foley sounds

I had a listen at some foley sounds that could potentially fit in well with our title sequence for example theres a scene when a character is being chased and I found the sound "footsteps hard concrete run" as the sound is associated with running. After the running scene the male and female character are on each side of the door, the male character trying to force his way through, on that note we could use "Door 15" as it sounds like the door banging.

34 - Production Schedule

We care going to start Filming on 29th January and we will continue throughout the following lessons: 2nd February and 5th February.  However this is not enough time to do all of our recordings, so we will have to make time during the week and film more on the weekend, 7th February
